The problem

When IT support falls to someone with another job

It’s usually the office manager, or whoever happened to be nearest the server last time it fell over. They’re good at it, and that’s the problem. The fault gets cleared between their real work, and no one writes down what was wrong.

Ad-hoc support puts that back where it belongs. You ring a number in Morisset, someone who has seen the fault before picks it up, and you pay for the time it took. In the months when nothing breaks, there’s no monthly fee.

How a job runs

What happens when you ring

Most faults are fixed remotely at step two, and only a few ever need a visit.

01

The call

A technician answers the phone. We ask what changed, when it last worked, and who else it’s affecting. By the end of the call you’ll know whether it’s a remote fix or a visit, and roughly what it’ll take.

02

Remote first

You approve a session and watch the screen the whole time, so you see everything we do. Most email, account and software faults end here, and plenty land inside the minimum charge. The clock only runs while we’re working on it.

03

Onsite when needed

For dead hardware, cabling and anything else a remote session can’t reach, we book a slot and come to you. Travel is charged from Morisset, and we tell you what it adds before we leave. We tell you if the machine isn’t worth saving.

04

The note

You get an invoice for the time and a written note of what broke, what we changed, and what to watch for. If the same fault shows up again, whoever picks it up has the history to work from, including your own staff.

Ad-hoc support questions

Pay-as-you-go questions

1800 620 449

What does ad-hoc support cost?

We bill by time in business hours, with a minimum of 15 minutes, and travel is charged on onsite visits. We’ll tell you the hourly rate before we start. Plenty of remote fixes land inside the minimum. If a job looks like it will run long, we stop and tell you what we think it will take before the clock keeps running.

Do I have to sign anything?

No. Ad-hoc work needs no agreement, minimum spend or monthly fee. You ring when something breaks and you get an invoice for that job. It stops making sense at some size, though. Below about five staff, ad-hoc usually wins. Past that, a monthly plan soon costs less, and we’ll tell you when you get there.

How quickly will a technician get to me?

We don’t publish a response time for ad-hoc work, because we could only honour it for clients on a plan. In practice, we pick up remote jobs the same business day and book onsite work into a slot. If you can’t trade, say so when you ring. We move genuine outages to the front of the queue.

What if you can’t fix it, or the fault comes back?

You pay for our time either way, so we won’t waste it. If it can’t be solved in-house, such as a failed board, physical data recovery or a vendor’s own bug, we say so early and tell you who can. If the same fault returns twice, we stop clearing it and find out why.

What don’t you cover?

Ad-hoc support is reactive, so nothing is watched between calls. We don’t monitor your systems, apply patches or check that last night’s backup ran. We also won’t take responsibility for the security of systems we only ever see when they break. After-hours and weekend work is available by arrangement.
